Wedding Checklist 6 to 12 months before:- - Announce your engagement
- Buy a wedding planner notebook.
- Set the date for your ceremony
- Select engagement and wedding rings
- Decide on your wedding style
- Discuss and set a budget
- Select a wedding consultant
- Book a site for your ceremony and reception
- Determine type of wedding: formality, size, colors, and theme.
- Select a clergy and discuss ceremony
- Select wedding attendants
- Find wedding dress and accessories
- Find bridesmaid and flower girl attire and accessories
- Find groom’s attire and accessories
- Find groomsmen and ring-bearer attire and accessories
- Find father’s and mother’s wedding attire of bride and groom
- Select and book a professional photographer
- Select and book a professional videographer
- Select and book musicians/disc jockey
- Select and book a florist company
- Register with a bridal registry
- Select and book a professional caterer
- Begin compiling guest list
- Begin collecting favorite photos for wedding display or program
- Decide on wording and look for wedding invitations
- Order wedding invitations, envelopes, and other stationary
- Decide on honeymoon location and begin travel accommodations
- Obtain passport for honeymoon (if applicable)
3 to 6 months before: - Finalize guest list
- Make sure all deposits are paid for services reserved. Confirm booking date, time of arrival and hours of service.
- Finalize honeymoon bookings
- Arrange for fittings for entire wedding party
- Order/reserve wedding attire for bride, groom, attendants, flower girl(s), ring-bearer(s), and ushers
- Order wedding cake
- Purchase wedding rings
- Order thank you notes, imprinted napkins and wedding programs
- Begin delegating duties to people to assist with the guest book, etc…
- Book your limousine and transportation
- Make accommodations for out-of-town guests
- Meet with hair and makeup artist to discuss look and style
- Order wedding certificate
- Decide where you’ll be living and notify post office of address change
2 to 3 months before:
- Address wedding invitations (mail 6-8 weeks prior to wedding)
- Choose and purchase attendants’ gifts
- Choose special music selections
- Plan the bridesmaids’ luncheon
- Plan ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Confirm beauty appointments: hair, nails, massage, facial, makeup
- Arrange final fittings for entire wedding party
- Shop for honeymoon attire (lingerie, etc)
- Get accessories: garter, cake knife, unity candle, toasting goblets, ring-bearer pillow, flower girl basket, etc…
1 to 2 months before:
- Confirm date and time and organize details with all service providers
- Meet with clergy on ceremony details
- Make program for reception
- Make list of who’s doing what and when for ceremony and reception
1 to 4 weeks before:
- Notify your caterer of your final guest count
- Delegate last-minute errands and details to relatives or friends
- Make any necessary notes or lists for photographer, videographer, and musicians/disc jockey’s-If you don’t have a wedding coordinator, ask a responsible person to coordinate activities on wedding day. Give them your list you made. If you have a wedding coordinator, go over all details of wedding day.
- Obtain marriage license (*Note: If you’ve been married before, you’ll need to know the date and place of the divorce or annulment. You may also need to have paperwork for proof of divorce or annulment.)
- Pick up wedding rings; make sure they fit properly!
- Pick up wedding attire; make sure it fits and try on with accessories.-Eat right, minimize stress, and get sleep!!!
7 days before:
- Make final check with all service providers.
- Meet with photographer and videographer to tell them what you want.
- Pack for honeymoon
- Arrange head table seating
- Confirm honeymoon arrangements
- Make sure wedding party knows their duties/instructions
- Make sure everyone has attire from any last minute fittings
1 day before:
- Get a manicure, massage, facial and relax. (*Note: If your facial is deep cleaning, do it at least 2 weeks prior to allow face to heal)
- Provide ushers with list of guests
- Make sure attire and accessories are where you’re getting dressed
- Attend wedding dinner rehearsal and have fun
- Go to sleep earlier to ensure plenty of rest
Your Wedding Day:
- Eat a good breakfast
- Go to hair and makeup appointment with stylist
- If you are taking pictures before ceremony, allow at least 2 hours prior
- Allow 3 hours to dress and relax-Enjoy your special day! All your planning is done…
After the wedding:
- Mail in marriage license
- Get name change on accounts, policies, drivers license, social security card
- Open a joint checking and savings account
- Write thank-you notes for gifts
